Chris is the founder & ceo of Proxima Wealth Partners and a seasoned private wealth and capital markets executive with over 20 years of experience.
Prior to founding Proxima, Chris spent nearly 15 years at Raymond James in various leadership roles. Most recently, he was the Regional Director for one of the Private Client Group’s largest regions, a business unit producing several hundred million dollars in revenues and employing several hundred people. He also spent six years leading the Advisor Select Division and grew the division from under $30 million in revenues to several hundred million today. He joined the firm in 2009 as an Assistant to the Chairman where he worked directly with Tom James (former Chairman), Paul Reilly (Executive Chairman), Paul Shoukry (CEO), and other members of Raymond James’ Board of Directors and Executive Committee on various strategic, financial, operational, and leadership initiatives. Before joining Raymond James, he worked in the Investment Banking Division at Goldman, Sachs & Co. where he focused on clients in the consumer sector; and prior to Goldman, Chris worked at Delta Trust & Banking Corp. where he was a portfolio manager for the firm’s top clients, and he also assisted the firm’s Chairman with multiple investment banking assignments. He began his professional career at Greenwood & Associates (now Greenwood Gearhart), a prominent RIA in Fayetteville, AR.
Chris received his MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where he was awarded the Howard S. Marks Merit Scholarship and the Goldman Sachs MBA Fellowship. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas and ranked #1 in his graduating class, completing his studies with a 4.00 GPA. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Tampa Bay Society. He is also a graduate of the Securities Industry Institute (SII) at The Wharton School.
Chris is very active in the Tampa Bay community. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Frameworks of Tampa Bay, an organization dedicated to teaching children to become kind, collaborative, and capable citizens. He is the former Chairman of the Board of Trustees for St. Mary’s Episcopal Day School, one of the top private schools in Tampa. He is also a member of Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla and the Tampa Yacht & Country Club.
Chris calls Tampa, FL home with his better half, Lindsay, the wife he doesn’t deserve; their three children—son Hayden (15) and daughters Lila (13) and Clara (9)—all of whom claim to be smarter than him; and their two pets Rex (a golden retriever whose best friend is whoever knocks on the front door) and Marvy (a mischievous cat who enjoys breaking things in the middle of the night). In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family at their beach home in Boca Grande, traveling, exercising, and enjoying various sports. He is an avid and passionate reader with interests across many topics; but he is particularly partial to biographies of entrepreneurs and historical figures, economics, politics, anthropology, human psychology, and philosophy—as well as the occasional science fiction novel.
